CAMEROON (10 Days)
Cameroon is the perfect blend of nature and ethnic diversity for those who love off-the-beaten-path destinations. With its vast ethnic variety—including the legendary Baka Pygmies—its cosmopolitan cities, Douala and Yaoundé, and its untouched rainforests, Cameroon stands out as a country where adventure and excitement, anthropological exploration, and the feeling of venturing into uncharted territory are more palpable than ever.
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN CAMEROON
International flight with a layover, arriving at Yaoundé International Airport. Transfer to the hotel.
DAY 2: YAOUNDÉ
We will begin familiarizing ourselves with Cameroonian culture by exploring this vibrant capital city.
DAY 3: SOMALOMO
We travel through the Mefou Park before reaching Somalomo, a small yet fascinating village that serves as the gateway to the Dja Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Home to 107 species of mammals, this reserve is one of Africa’s largest and best-preserved rainforests, with 90% of its surface untouched by human presence.
We will spend the night at Mama Rose Lodge, where we will have our first meaningful encounter with the local population and experience their warmth and hospitality.
DAY 4: SOMALOMO – BAKA PYGMIES
We will explore one of Africa’s most legendary and enigmatic tribes: the Baka Pygmies.
We will spend time with them, sharing and learning about their traditional lifestyle, which is based on hunting, gathering, and ancestral knowledge.
This ethnic group, known for their short stature, maintains ancient traditions in both their way of life and clothing, wearing traditional loincloths and sharpening their upper teeth, which gives them a distinctive appearance.
We will witness the Edjengui magic dance, a ritualistic ceremony performed during difficult times to heal illnesses or honor their ancestors.
DAY 5: SOMALOMO – EBOGO
After bidding farewell to our Baka hosts, we depart early for Ebogo, arriving in the afternoon.
We will stay on the banks of the Nyong River, in a spectacular natural setting.
DAY 6: EBOGO
A full day dedicated to exploring the region and its impressive biodiversity.
We will embark on a morning canoe excursion, offering a chance to observe wildlife and immerse ourselves in the untouched beauty of the rainforest.
This experience allows us to appreciate both the stunning landscapes and the rich soundscape of the surrounding nature.
DAYS 7 & 8: KRIBI
Relaxation on the pristine beaches of Kribi, while also enjoying the breathtaking natural scenery.
We will visit Les Chutes de la Lobé, a spectacular waterfall that holds spiritual significance in the region.
DAY 9: ÉDDÉA II
We will explore the territory of the Bagdeli people, an ethnic group that has preserved its ancestral traditions and lives primarily from hunting and gathering.
DAY 10: DOUALA & RETURN
Further exploration of the area before heading to Douala, Cameroon’s second-largest city.
We will tour the city before transferring to the airport in the evening for our night flight home.
