DAY 1: ARRIVAL AT COTONOU AIRPORT

DAY 5: DEPARTURE TOWARD THE ANCIENT KINGDOM OF DAHOMEY

This day will be devoted to visiting the ancient kingdom of DAHOMEY, today known as Abomey. We will discover the royal palace as well as the emblems of all the kings who followed at the head of the kingdom. Afterwards, we will visit among the HOUNTONDJI people to see the work of local craftsmen. Night at the Hotel Abomey.

DAY 6: DASSA-ZOUME AND THE 41 HILLS

We will begin our ascent toward the north of the country by the important stop at Dassa. A bus will take us up to the great animist temple at the heart of the sacred mountain. After, we will go to Dankoli, the divinity at the foot of which can be seen daily processions of the faithful. In the evening, we will visit the nocturnal market that is still very popular. DAY 7: DISCOVERING THE VILLAGE OF TANEKA

DAYS 8 AND 9: VISIT TO SOMBA COUNTRY

We will take the route leading to the village of BOUKOUMBE. The ATAKORA Mountains and the many baobabs along with the TATA huts bestow the area with a special beauty. We will devote two days to visiting this area, designated a UNESCO World Heritage site.

DAY 10: PARAKOU

This stop in the trip is scheduled to allow travelers to visit the capital of the north of Bénin with the large commercial activity that unfolds there. A visit to the small nomadic Peul villages will take up our stay in this part of the country.

DAY 11: ALLADA

We will leave Parakou early with the aim of getting to ALLADA to meet the spiritual chief KPODEGBE in his royal palace there. He will explain to us the history of this strategic point for the conveyance of slaves coming from the interior of the country towards the coast. DAYS 12 AND 13: ALONG THE SLAVE ROUTE

DAY 14: DAY AT THE BEACH

DAY 15: END OF THE VOYAGE AND RETURN TO COUNTRY OF ORIGIN

After lunch, we will depart for Cotonou. After a tour of the district specializing in craftwork, we will go to the airport in preparation for the flight.
